What we collect

We show no ads, use no advertising trackers and never sell personal data. Our hosting provider (Vercel) processes technical data such as your IP address when delivering pages, and may briefly log it for security and abuse prevention. Some articles embed interactive planners that run in your browser and load fonts and scripts from Google Fonts and jsDelivr, which receive your IP address when they load.

Visit statistics (Vercel)

To learn which pages are useful, we use Vercel Web Analytics. It counts page views together with the page address, referring site, country, browser, operating system and device type. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. To tell visits apart, Vercel derives a short-lived identifier from your request (including your IP address) that is discarded after 24 hours; your IP address is not stored. We only see aggregate figures and cannot identify individual visitors.

Google Analytics (with your consent)

To understand in more detail how visitors use the site, we use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. It loads only if you click "Accept" in the cookie banner. It then sets cookies (_ga and _ga_<ID>, kept for up to two years) and records pages visited, how you arrived, your browser, device and approximate location, and how you interact with pages. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses of visitors in the EU. We have turned off Google signals and ad personalisation. Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA, which is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Google deletes the data after the retention period we set (at most 14 months). Price reports (Carnival Index)

If you send a price report, we store the item, price, date and optional note you enter, plus a timestamp. We do not ask for or store your name, email or a receipt. To limit spam, we keep a scrambled (salted, hashed) form of your IP address for 24 hours so we can count how many reports one visitor sends; it is never stored together with the report. Reports are held in a database provided by Upstash (Upstash, Inc., USA) through Vercel, and we review each one by hand before it counts. Approved reports are published only as medians per item, never individually. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in building an honest price index and protecting the form from abuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Please do not put personal data in the note; we delete notes that contain it. To have a report removed, email us with the item, price and date.

Legal basis

For hosting and Vercel Web Analytics we rely on our legitimate interest in operating, securing and improving the site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). For Google Analytics we rely on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 25(1) TDDDG), which you can withdraw at any time with effect for the future.

Cookies

Vercel Web Analytics sets no cookies. Google Analytics sets cookies only after you click "Accept". We save your choice in your browser's local storage so we don't ask on every page; this is necessary to respect your decision. To change it, use "Cookie settings" in the footer.

If you email us, we use your message and address only to respond, and keep them no longer than necessary.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction or deletion of, or restriction or portability of your personal data, and object to processing. You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. To exercise any right, contact the controller named above.
